Ullcentrum 3-Ply DK/Worsted Weight
Product Description: Ullcentrum's DK/Worsted is a 3-ply yarn with 200 m per 100 grams (6/3) spun from pure Swedish wool from Öland. The standard weight of a hank is 100 grams unless otherwise specified.Swedish wool yarn is strong, soft and easy to knit and weave with. It is also well suited for felting should you so wish. Ullcentrum' yarns come in a wide variety of variegated and solid colours - perfect for creating truly interesting and unique items. Recommended gauge is 18 sts = 10 cm on needles size 5 mm/US 8.
Please note: This yarn comes in multiple spins from different types of wool, so the weight varies from a heavy DK to Worsted. The Finull is the lightest weight, with the Gotland coming in as a regular worsted, and the Swedish Wool and Alvar looking more like a heavy worsted. If you are concerned that your "types" won't work together, contact us, but generally this guide will give you the weights.

Fairlight Fibers Notes: Ullcentrum's beautiful 3-Ply DK/Worsted Weight is an amazing, natural wool. It is definitely not for everyone! It is rustic, sheepy, and glorious. If you are used to merino, it's also scratchier than that. If you like natural wools and low-process yarns, you'll LOVE this yarn. It comes in multiple types of wool. All will bloom and relax and soften when blocked and worn, like most traditional wools. We highly recommend swatching, as this yarn really does bloom: you’ll see the difference!
This yarn is made from one of four types of wool: regular Swedish Wool, Gotland (light and dark varieties), Alvar (a blend of various Swedish wools unique to Ullcentrum), or Fine Wool. This means that each colorway is very different in its look, feel, and drape. The Swedish Wool and the Alvar are plump and crunchy, like a low-process Shetland. The Gotland is generally softer and somewhat thinner, being a long-wool, but it still has that rustic feel. Some colorways, like Medium Grey, are much fatter and less processed than the dyed colorways, feeling more like the Swedish Wool. The Fine Wool is very soft and silky, but still rustic. If you love wool that is not heavily processed, and that still has lots of sheepy lanolin, delicious smells, and some vegetable inclusions, you'll be delighted with this stunning yarn. You can expect a bit of shedding from the long-wool Gotland especially. We think this is one of the most beautiful yarns we carry: wooly, wonderful, and very reasonably priced. Try all the types!
