Prices are raising across all J&S yarns, due to shipping cost increases.
Product Description: This Natural Collection of seven completely undyed colours work beautifully together. Shetland Heritage yarn recreates the original characteristics of handspun ‘wursit’ used in old Fair Isle garments. The yarn is replicated from that found in knitted Fair Isle garments in the collection of Shetland Museum and Archives.
Weight: light fingering
Please Note: If you would like more of any Jamieson & Smith yarn than we have in stock, we can probably order it for you directly. The average time on this is 2-3 weeks from the UK. We can also get most colors in 1000g cones upon request (4800 yards). Email and ask
Fairlight Fibers Notes: Jamieson & Smith Shetland Heritage Naturals is softer than most Shetland wool, as it is worsted spun. It has a rustic appearance, with even the "black" yarn showing a slight chocolate heather. It is perfect for fair isle projects. The skeins are small, but this is so that you can order several colors for fair isle work. Please keep quantities in mind when you purchase this yarn! This yarn is slightly finer in weight than a standard fingering weight yarn, and doesn't necessarily play well with other weights (tension issues abound). Want color? Try the Shetland Heritage Colors, which are the same weight!
