Product Description: Beautiful British superwash Bluefaced Leicester wool blended with silk to create a 4ply yarn ideal for a wide range of projects. There are 20 classic ECY colours to choose from! If you need help with colour combining please have a look at the Flickr album ECY created HERE.
This yarn is lustrous and drapey, but also lightweight and warm to wear. It is spun as a standard 4/16nm 4ply weight yarn, however you may find that it feels fine - this is just because the fibre is very smooth and lustrous, plus it’s worsted spun which keeps it smooth and means there’s less chance of pilling (we have found that this yarn does not pill). The fibre is of course British, it is combed and spun in Italy (because we love their work), then dyed in smallish batches, balled and labelled all in Yorkshire, which is where Eden Cottage Yarns is also based.
(Dyer note: The darker colours such as Night Sky and Dogwood may bleed if washed by hand with any sort of detergent/soap, so we recommend either washing them in plain water, or using them alongside other darkish colours too. We have tested them in the washing machine alongside Natural and there was no staining on the Natural, but please just be careful of it). Fairlight Fibers note: we have not had an issue with this, so your mileage may vary.
